About Us

In 2020, just after welcoming our second baby, we made the life-changing decision to leave Arizona and put down new roots in Virginia. We spent many late nights dreaming and talking about what kind of life we wanted for our family—and we knew it wasn’t in the sprawl of Phoenix anymore. Very quickly, our hearts pointed us toward Virginia, and by Fall 2021, we had found the perfect little farm just outside Scottsville and made the move.

We’re a fully family-run operation—JJ and Amanda (that’s me!)—along with our two best helpers, Evie (7) and Hazel (5). People often ask, with a puzzled look, “Chicken and flowers?” We get it—it sounds like a funny mix. But for us, it’s a natural pairing. We’re passionate about growing the kind of food and beauty we want in our own lives: fresh, seasonal, responsibly raised, and deeply connected to the land.

Raising our own meat came from a desire to feed our family the highest quality food—sustainably and humanely. And while I’m incredibly proud of the meat we produce, I also craved something joyful, creative, and beautiful. That’s where the flowers came in. Growing and sharing local blooms brings me so much happiness—and we love that every bouquet carries the story of our land and our family.

If you’d like to follow along with our journey and see what’s blooming (or clucking), we’d love to have you join us on Facebook (@estesfarmva) and Instagram (@estes_farm).
